One of the Most Important Investments You Can Make

    It is so important to invest in friends.They are an awesome addition to your life. And what a privilege  it is to be a great friend.  For fun, I listed six attributes that start with, wait for it….. F.  The definition of these words are found in Little Oxford English Dictionary and Thesaurus, 2008.

Friends– “ a person that you know well and like; a supporter of a cause or organization.” That says it all, they know you well and still like you! We may not do everything right, who does? Our friends support us no matter what. Unconditional love is awesome!

Fan– “an enthusiastic admirer or supporter.”  To have that passion for you and yours is an exciting way to live. You feel important when someone fawns over you with an abundance of positive energy.

Fun– “ light-hearted amusement .” Laughter is a great medicine which releases endorphins that make you feel better physically and emotionally. Joy and happiness make the journey we are on smoother and pleasant. I go to southern Indiana with a small group of friends every year. The fun, memories and sharing make it a favorite occurrence for all of us.

Fantastic– “excellent”  Friends have a special place in our hearts, homes and lives. Through them God blesses us abundantly, and as Anne of Green Gables would say, they are kindred spirits. They are so like us there is a special bond.

Foster– “encourage or help the development of.” I have dear friends who are foster parents who have the privilege of making a difference in the children they care for. You can make a difference in the lives of friends as you encourage and help them while they  are there for you. Its a mutual encouragement club.

Foundation– “ a base or lowest layer.” We all need a firm foundation or supporting base in this wobbly world we live in. I think of the hymn, “What a friend we have in Jesus.” Jesus is the best friend a grandmother can have and your faith in Him is your firm foundation. My next best friend is my husband, and then all my wonderful girlfriends.

Of course, this is a drop in the bucket. There is so much more I could say about friends. The ancient book of wisdom says, “He who has friends is rich indeed.”  Life is rich indeed when you are lavished with them. Always take the time to be friendly when you meet someone new, you might just be meeting your next best friend for the first time.  We appreciate you being our friend  and taking time to read these words.

As I think about the wonderful things my friends have done for me over the years it becomes a mirror and helps me know how to be a great friend to them.
