Breakthrough Not Breakdown
You can have a breakthrough – not a breakdown! A breakthrough happens when a block is removed so you can experience sudden advancement, achieve a desired goal, receive unusual blessings or improved conditions. God is a God of breakthrough who will walk with you through the difficulties and bring you to a place of peace and victory.
Remember the old TV show HeeHaw and this silly song? Let’s sing together – “Gloom, despair and agony on me, deep dark depression, excessive misery. If it weren’t for bad luck I’d have no luck at all. Gloom, despair and agony on me!” Well, we’re going to reject the gloom and despair, awesome women, and get a breakthrough! Here’s seven ways to restore your passion that will drive you forward toward an incredible breakthrough!
A seed has to crack open in order to grow and bloom. When you apply these basic principles of breakthrough God will even use your breakdown to forward His purposes in your life!
1.) Believe
The little engine that could doubted his ability to achieve. But, he went from “I think I can, I think I can” to “I know I can, I know I can.” He picked up speed and momentum as confidence built. You can do the same! Eliminate the negative and focus on the positive . It takes thirty days to change a habit so get started. Drug addicts can have a breakthrough. You can leave the past behind. Focus on new places, new people, and new actions. Keep your thoughts traveling down a positive path.
2.) Lighten Your Load
Eliminate baggage that is weighing you down: depression, inferiority, doubt, and fear. A breakdown happens when your load is too heavy. Instead, of baggage carry luggage filled with powerful breakthrough attitudes that will lighten your load and lift you up like; joy, peace, faith , and love.
3.) Enjoy
Laughing releases endorphins that make you feel better. Smile, even if you don’t feel like it and the emotions will follow. Who doesn’t like a good game of Candy Land? Candy Land is like life, the deck is not always stacked in your favor, but having fun along the way defeats the blues. The Devil’s plans are throated when you have joy in the midst of setback. Sometimes I let Anthony, our four-year old, win simply because it’s so fun to see him do the victory dance. Do a victory dance in the midst of your setback and you defeat doubt and fear and release God to create breakthrough.
4.) Journal
Writing helps you think and thinking gets your concerns out there on paper, which helps you sort through issues and reveal answers. I began journaling when my first husband died of M.S. It helped with all I had to deal with emotionally, physically and spiritually. Journal your doubt and in doing so release it to God and He will reveal the way to breakthrough, often right in the midst of your writing.
5.) Connect
Don’t withdraw from people. Encourage others and be encouraged. Take a walk or have coffee with a friend. My friend Leeann and I often go for lunch, tell our stories, laugh, cry, and hug. We had babies together 37 years ago and have opened our hearts to each other along our journey. We always come away refreshed and restored. The human touch and connection will energize and propel you through the wall that’s might be holding you back, releasing your breakthrough.
6.) Follow the Sun (Son)
The sun will break through on a cloudy, dreary day and bring life and joy, when you put your eyes on the Son. In the Dreamworks’ movie The Croods, the cavemen were afraid to go out of their cave. Their motto was “Never be afraid to not be afraid.” However, as they went on their journey that motto changed to “Ride the sun to tomorrow.” Scripture says “The people living in darkness have seen a great light,” (Matthew 4:16), referring to the SON (Jesus). His precious and powerful Holy Spirit is with you always and will drive away the clouds and help you find the sun, the light you need to walk right into your greatest breakthrough!
7.) Keep Going
It’s one foot in front of the other, awesome women! Never give up and never give in. When you are passing through a difficult time, don’t settle on second best. Don’t give up and don’t give in! When what you’re going through doesn’t make sense, keep moving. The journey of life is full of crazy mixed up twists and turns. Keep going forward step by step, sometimes hour by hour, and you will break through to a beautiful vista beyond your wildest dreams!
Stay the course, apply these principles and God can use your breakdown to propel you to your breakthrough!
Love, Debbie
