Take A Cruise
Cruising to Alaska is one place I’ve always wanted to go. A close friend is going there this summer. It sounds so exciting and I am so jealous. The grandeur and majesty of God’s creation at every turn. I felt a twinge of regret that she is going and I’m not. But my journey is different from Susie’s in this season of my life.
It seems I am rearranging the landscape of my life and retirement plans, once again, but my perspective is not disappointment, it’s anticipation. Research shows we can change our brain chemistry by our choices so I am choosing to live a positive life filled with joy and blessings, no matter what people around me are doing and you can too!
We have the privilege of raising our grandson Anthony, who came to live with us after my son died in 2014. He is an energetic five year old now. My husband and I, like millions before us have had our career and retirement plans changed, but we can plan on a life full of joy and excitement as we anticipate and maneuver through the course set before us. It is such a rewarding journey to a glorious vista – greater than the grandeur of Alaska. For the creator of Alaska has ordained a passion in me to raise a safe, secure, productive, healthy and respectful child. I get to experience the grandeur and majesty of God’s creation in the form of grands, specifically our grandson Anthony. My impact on his life is making a difference in the United States of America. How awesome is that?
So, I look forward to the cruises I get to take. I cruise to the grocery store, I cruse to the park, to preschool, to play-dates, to church, to the zoo or the latest new animated movie. And if finances allow, maybe a trip to Disneyworld next year.
I will be okay if it’s only to cruise to the family room for a game of Go Fish or Candyland. For spending time with the treasure God gifted to us is the best part of the journey. Happy cruising to you and yours.
Love, Debbie
