Can you have peace in terrible times of trouble? What if you’ve lost someone, you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or war is going on in the world? All these and many more things threaten our safety, peace and existence. It’s hard to not live in fear, but you can do it!! You must do it, for you, for your family and for others who need reassurance in difficult times. You can be encouraged and be an encourager. Here’s seven weapons with which you can live in victory in the war or trial you are faced with:
You absorb what you are feeding on and then it becomes part of you. The terrorists in the world would love to have you paralyzed with fear, the innocent are slain by demonic influence, and they get excited by the blood. But woe to them when the Power of the blood of the Messiah is known. The Word of God is our weapon that defeats the enemy and gives us strength and peace, not fear. “…Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.”(Ephesians 6:10 TPT). Absorb Ephesians 6 and put on all His armor against attacks.
Prayer is talking to God, but not giving Him your wishlist or your whining. When you pray for peace it opens up a powerful portal to peace, not fear. There may still be concerns, but you will garner wisdom in how to address these concerns. Philippians 4: 6-7 says don’t be anxious, present your requests to God and the peace that passes understanding shall guard your hearts and minds. Peace requires weapons, and one of those is prayer.
God’s time is not our time. He is timeless, so if it seems the resolution is taking forever, it’s not. Accept that He is God and you are not, surrender to Him and trust Him for He will bring restoration to the ruined cities (or ruined places and situations) in your life and to those who long for His intervention (See Isaiah 61). It takes the weapon of trust to open avenues to Him so He can direct your path.
Worship is a way to get in the presence of the living God, the password is Praise! It is a privilege you are granted because He loves you so much. In 2 Chronicles Jehoshaphat was faced with a battle and they were all anxious, they sought the Lord and He said “ Do not be afraid or discouraged…For the battle is not yours, but Gods” (2 Chronicles 20:15). They defeated the enemy by having praise and adoration to the Lord go before them. Worship is a powerful weapon to destroy the enemy, for the devil and his minions will flee in the Lovely Name of Jesus. This was their weapon and it can be yours too.
No matter what you are going through, grief, loss, pain, sickness or financial turmoil, Jesus is always with you through it giving perfect peace and His presence (See John 14: 18, 27). He promises to never leave you now and for all eternity and no one can snatch you out of His hands (See John 10:28). This assurance that He’s with you now and for all eternity is the most magnificent weapon. My husband and I both lost sons and we experienced Jesus always being with us through tragic times in the here and now, as He will always be with us in the tremendous times in Heaven when we are all united.
Whether you are standing still or wielding a sword there is an action involved. The harp was a weapon in Davids hands, as well as the slingshot. He had to prepare in both instances. You need to prepare so you’ll be battle ready, for the battle will come. One step you can take is build a firm foundation one stone at a time so when things around you are crumbling, you are not, because you stand on the solid rock who is Jesus (See Luke 6: 47-49).
Be intentional and choose the weapons of your warfare that are mighty to the pulling down of strongholds from the enemy. Don’t entertain negative thoughts of sin or condemnation, instead capture them and be victorious over them (See 2 Corinthians 10:4-5). Put on the helmet of salvation to protect your thoughts from lies and fears. What dynamic weaponry is available to you when you do this.
May the love of the Messiah be realized and accepted by all those seeing devastation and tragedies, by all those experiencing them and even by those doing them. Put your energy and effort into being a warrior for His kingdom and glory. All praise to Jesus, the name above all names. He is the greatest weapon who gives peace and healing, now and always!
Armed and ready with you, Debbie
